I won an auction on ebay on the 16th of May. It was listed with "immediate payment required" I paid for priority USPS and insurance.
As of today still no activity in the shipping section (06/02/08)

My question is how long do you feel is an adequate time to wait prior to going ballistic?

With ebay's new rules package it would seem that sellers would be a little more attentive towards their auctions, or does the new policy just make the possibility of negative feedback worthless?

Thanks, Paul

Paul,
Have you contacted the seller with your concerns? If not,you might want to try that before going ballstic. The time frame is definitely pushing the limit. There's no reason for it to take that long unless its a USPS issue or the seller has had serious personal problems.

Has the seller had feedback left for slow shipping?

I messaged him thru ebay message service on the 27th of May, as of yet no response. I am a firm believer in "the proper channels" so that is why I am seeking advise. he has a 4.7 out of 5 rating and I have had success with him in the past. He does not like messages prefers that you try yo get answers from his about me page. If it is a USPS problem I haven't been notified about a shipment and the only personal problems I can ascertain is that he went camping from 5/30-6/1

Paul,
I understand your frustration. He obviously should have shipped the purchase long before going on vacation. Immediate payment should warrant immediate shipping.
How he "likes" to be contacted shouldn't matter.Through ebay contact is you only choice if you want any kind of record for paypal disputes.
At this point what I would do is send another ebay contact message saying you need some kind or response to your concerns within 24hrs or you will be forced to file a item not received report.
If that doesn't work.File a non received item claim. That will get the sellers attention.He might block you from making furture purchases but if hes going to treat buyers this way,what have you lost?
Terry

Thank you for your input Terry, I'll give him the rest of today to work things out after his vacation, but I know that he has been online today as he took the time to respond to a neutral feedback on his site. I will however start with a 24 hour demand message tomorrow, as this would make 10 working days since the transaction occurred.

Well its been done! The 24 hour demand letter has been sent, we will wait and see what occurs if anything. I'll post updates here, good or bad. Just wish I didn't have to go through this bull for something that should have been easy.

Well he messaged me back, although I believe it to be a little song and dance number, also not sure which message he is responding to. Please excuse the grammar and spelling as I'm just going to cut and paste;

First reply,

You should have it-or it was just shipped-not sure-am sending out USPS delivery confirmation numbers for those my partner shipped recently-that camping trip was great-but has attached me in strength.
Thanks

Second reply,

Ah ha.. I found out what happened... It cam back to my partner damaged-as it was insured.. thank God.. He will take care of it.. He got it back last Fri-he will ship ASAP-i hope with the AZ quarters-if not I will send the AZ quartersHe said it looks like it was sat on?
Sorry-enjoy all thru DE-HA

Now I'm not a bad person but please don't pee on my leg and tell me that it's raining. In previous transactions I have received a message from paypal telling me a label has been printed and will ship with paypal shipping service. Also he has had a tracking number listed in my transaction details. Neither of these things has occurred yet he claims to have shipped and package returned damaged!?!?!
All in all I'd have an easier time believing this if he wasn't located just 4 hours away, sometimes it just doesn't pay to deal locally!

What will tomorrow hold in store for me? I guess I'll see then.
Rest in Peace

I think somebody needs to put the crack pipe down and take a rest, today I get this from him;

Remember its bad-but sellers are limited to 10 messages a dayjerk sellers are using messages to sell-wanting for AZ quarters/ordamaged return-I don't remember yours-let me check with my partner.
sorry

Now he doesn't remember sending the other messages? Seems that he needs to get a bookkeeper instead of a partner! If this is in response to my 24 hour demand he is late and not concerned enough for my satisfaction!

Yeah, all things are pointing to this deal going south. I think the man is losing touch with reality! I am already making arrangements to make this purchase elsewhere, if (or should I say WHEN) this situation gets worse!

That would seem to be the next logical step, I haven't seen any thing from him that would lead me to come to a positive conclusion. Just how damaged could a package that contained quarters in plastic tubes actually get, unless he was over stating his shipping methods!

Let's see 92-94 coins divided by 3 rolls{smoke some crack} roll in newspaper, season with oregano, hand deliver to the 6 foot tall postlizard and done! Can't see why there would be any problem there

Hi, today I got to file an item not received report with PayPal. I guess it is like a message service with a bully attached in this case the bully would be more like Waldo. Here is my contact message;

I thought we were on the right track, but I have my doubts that this transaction will be completed now that there is a "partner" involved and neither seems to know what the actual story or case is. Your listing states 92 quarters right away...shipped in protective tubes...5 days handling time...shipped with priority mail, so with all this prepaid and listed with immediate payment required, the Quarters should have arrived last week at the latest. Your emails are troubling at best, first one says sending tracking numbers to partner to see if shipped, then you say it was returned damaged in your next message, then in your third you don't remember the transaction or previous conversations. That brings us here, I want this completed, and it seems you need help towards that end. Lets see if PayPal can restore a little focus for you.

Well that's it for now see what happens!!

If nothing else,Paypal will get your money back in time.They have done it for me twice. I know you have had good luck with this dealer in the past but I wouldn't give hime another chance when this ordeal is over.
GOOD LUCK!

Three quick points:

1) Partner? You had no agreement with his partner.

2) The PO has delivered plenty of damaged packages to me. I've never heard of them returning a package to the sender because it was damaged.

3) When all is said and done, don't forget the negative feedback!

UPDATE!
Here was an unexpected twist to this screwy situation! The package arrived today! Still appears to have been sat on but EVERY thing inside intact! BUT, here's the twist, The package tracks back to Romulus, Michigan! What! This must be where the infamous partner lives and ships from! I guess item location was listed as "support our troops, United states", Okay my mistake, I thought it was Fortuna, CA where it has been shipped from on previous orders. Wait... return address says Fortuna, CA ? Why not save trouble and just tell me in advance that the package will drop ship from Michigan, could this be against ebay policy? Seems a tad bit on the shady side to me!
On the positive side the '99- 06 Quarters were nicely packed in square tubes, don't have a brand, but good quality! The '07's and Okla.& N.M. Quarters were in a paper roll well taped up.

I think I'll let him hang for a couple of days to see if anything comes of the PayPal thing, and decide what to do, or not do, next week.

In the mean time I'm Gonna glove up and play with some quarters, Paul
