Considering MS-62 has a price of 25k on the PCGS site.. I'd say 15k

Sickening value difference between AU-50 and MS-63! It is probably overgraded and cleaned. That being said, I wouldn't go over EF-40 value, which is around $55(according to 2009 Red Book).

Madzdad, if you notice, there's a HUGE difference between 55 and 62. Probably because there are very few unc specimens left. 60 might only be 1000 or 2000. And I agree with Johnny, don't pay more than EF40 value.

They where trying to start the bid at 1000.00, Someone live at the auction cut the bid. Then I bid. He then tried to bid again and seems that he can't bid until the next round, the auctioner told him he should know the rules if you cut the bid. Any ways I may have payed to much but need the coin
170.00
Though that was good since 650.00 was the 55 rating price. I think its about right and this coin is hard to get.
Thanks for the advise guys!

Per picture it still looks nice for such key date. My moto is that you may overpay on a few through "impulse" buying, yet the general collection breadth will gain. Enjoy

NNC has been known to overgrade coins. I know as I bought a bunch on ebay a couple of years ago. It looks to me more like an EF-40 to EF-45, and possibly cleaned (hard to tell for sure).

Who really knows what was done to that coin to give it that "look", and I've observed that their interpretation of "grading" is all over the map--and in their favor.

It is NNC, pass.
Without looking, most likely cleaned.

I have heard and cant confirm one way or the other, that some lessor known grading firms can be bribed to slab the coin with a higher grade than it should be. The intent is for the owner to be able to command a higher sale price when they go to resell it as some uneducated or novice collectors may fall for this. Anyone else hear of this?

"some lessor known grading firms can be bribed to slab the coin with a higher grade than it should be" Unnecessary in this case, because this ebay seller also happens to "grade" the coins he sells. I did some research a while back--"Centsles" and NNC are one and the same (it's publicly accessible information).

$45 that is definitely not a 58. 1884S is the TPG scammer's dream date. its very common in circulated grades but very rare uncirculated because nearly all were placed in circulation while other dates sat in vaults for 100 years. putting a grade of MS on an AU or even AU on an EF is a hugh markup. high grade 84S dollars generally have prooflike luster. this one does not and there looks to be wear all across the eagles breast feathers and liberty's hair.
