Question: Who is the best choice for grading coins? Is it conditional on type, or errors? Of you had a 2007 George Washington dollar coin that had the rare edge doubling error, potentially worth hundreds, who would you send it to?

If that was the only coin I wanted to submit, I would send it to ANACS.

If I had several to submit, I would join PCGS or NGC (also, the ANA) and take advantage of the credits you receive with membership.

Any of the top three are fine. But when it comes time to sell it,you will get the most if it is in a PCGS holder.

I know this is not the point, but I feel a need to inform. I don't know a doubled GW dollar. I know know if a missing edge lettering GW and of a doubled Adams dollar. Both of those USED to be worth a lot more than they are now. Check ebay sales, they sell for as little as $20. Definitely not worth the cost of grading.

I think PCGS has it listed in their price guide as a major variety. There is a big price difference between a 63 and a 66, let alone market value. Try and determine the value, or post a photo over on the grading forum, and we can nail it there.

Third Party Grading is a tool. You select the tool according to the job you wish to accomplish.
Higher resale often means higher investment. It isn't a guaranteed return.
