What is the best way to account for slabbed coins in a Whitman or Dansco album? I know many of you will say "crack open the slab" but I would prefer not to go that route. I thought about cutting round pieces of cardboard to fit in the holes and write the TPG name and grade on it but I wanted to see if anyone else had a better idea. Thanks!

What I used to do is use plastic versions of the coins in the slots. Most toy stores will have replicas that are virtually the same size as the original. I thought it looked a little lame, but it served it purpose. After that I started getting either filler or low grade versions of the coin and putting a star next to the date to indicate it was in a slab...but then if I found a higher grade one then the star was still there because not every system is perfect. I am curious to see what other people do as well...

The best idea I think I've read is to cut out a piece of cardboard like you were thinking and print a picture of the coin on it so you have the coin in there it's just printed instead of having to crack it

That way you can "see" the actual coin in the spot it should be within the album.

This is the route I took.....

With the slides in they look better, and these are very old pictures. I have made some upgrades and changes since these were taken. Been working on this type set for probably 12 years or better here and there.

Album pages for slabs are available.
Due to thickness only about four pages can be included in the album.

There is another way.
I use re cycled four ring trade sample catalog binders.
I use these with standard 20 pocket album pages.

For slabs, depending trade sample catalog binder spine back width, up to about ten pages of 9 pocket slab album pages can be accommodated; that works out to around 90 slabs.

Not keen on lever arch binders, because they only have two binder rings.

If you have OCD like many collectors and want all the albums to have the same dimensions, slabbed or raw, Dansco makes 4 pocket "baseball card" vinyl sleeves that fit slabs.

I plan to crack.

But if for some reason I chicken out, I do like how GR58 handled it. He put a printed sticker on a filler coin...
