I found this strange coin while I was looking at pocket change in my wallet. At first I thought that this might be natural wear on a coin, But I have quarters in my wallet that date from almost exactly the same year and still carry the "I", The "T" in Trust also seems to have been weakly struck.

At the bottom left of the coin it reads "_n god we _rust" with the I completely missing, And the "T" very weakly struck or worn. I'm a novice to coin collecting, But I read about this kind of error, And I'm guessing this is a "Weak strike" error(?).

Also on the reverse of the coin, Looking at the "U" in United, It appears to have "Notches" on the top of the U, And a few other letters on the same side also appear to have notches, as well. So I'm wondering if this might be a double die, Or "Machine doubled".

So if this is an error coin, I'd like to know what it's value might be, I'm still studying facts about error coins, And this is the first coin I've found where I'm pretty sure it's an error.

Here are some photos I took, The error is on the bottom left on the obverse side of the coin, But I also took a photo of the reverse in-case I missed something. (Be sure to expand the images to see the errors)

Again, Thanks to everyone in advance for the help.

Hi,

If you look to the left and above the missing letters, you can see a vague uneven outline. That is usually an indication that there was some grease filling the recesses of the die when the coin was struck. It is technically called a Struck Through Grease error but it is such a common error type that on a coin with this much circulation there would be no premium. It is a very common happening on coins of all denominations.

Thanks,
Bill
