Looks like a tilted die made a fin on each side of the coin. The fin is flattened now. But if you find a fresh one with the fin in place, then you would have a keeper. This fin will make the edge wider if it hadn't been flattened yet. Example?

@coop, is there a little MAD on the OP's coin too? Or is that assumed when the coin has a fin? Just tryin' to learn...

More of an issue of a flattened fin. Usually on a MAD coin the one side is more affected than the other. Being both sides are the similar, I feel it is not a MAD issue, but a tilted die issue. With a tilt of the die in the collar. the space that is not covered, allows the metal to flow between the die and collar affecting the coins rims. That is what I'm seeing.

But back to the coin in question: Is the edge normal around the coin or distorted? If normal then we have our answer. But it not, please post an image. The last question made me thing of something else that could be the cause as well.
