I have a 2006 brown Australia 5c piece any suggestions why it's not silver?

Also it weighs the same as a normal 5c piece

Being buried in dirt for a period of time can cause this type of discolouration to copper nickel coins.

It has either been buried or stressed with too much heat.
Check to see it rings the same as other 5c coins.

Copper nickel coins go black when they are heated to red hot.
