Nice looking coins. Since this was a later issue of the large cent series, it just makes you wonder for how long this coin actually circulated. How long do you think that large cents were still being spent after 1857 (when currency in the US underwent some changes).

There does seem to be plenty of them in good condition , I found one at the beginning of summer in an old chest of drawers , lost it just as quick..dunno where it is , its in the house somewhere thats all I know for sure..i think

I believe the COW stands for Coin Of the Week, which is the sub-forum this is posted in.

I have the 1851 Half Cent that I picked up for a steal. I should also pick up the 1851 cent so that it has a friend.
