I know nothing about coins so I'll just describe it and I hope someone could give me more information on the coin. This is a 1971 dime and it has the letter D below Roosevelt's neck. What I find unique about the coin is that I guess during printing it was off center and the top of the coin is smashed flat. And the print itself is a little too far to the left where "IN GOD WE TRUST" is slightly cut off. I'd appreciate any information given about this kind of error. And could it be worth anything or should I just keep it? Here are a few photos of the coin. I took them with my phone so it was hard to get a good quality photo up close.

I don't believe that is a broadstrike error. Looks most like the coin was stuck in a press after it left the mint.

@Fuzzy317
Thank you for your reply. I doubted it was a broadstrike as well. I only looked up different coin errors and that was the only one that seemed like it would be. But of course none of the coins matched the way mine looked.

PSD. No clue what someone did to the coin. But the reed edge is present on the damaged area. So it was altered.
Rest in Peace

Caused by a hydraulic pressor other matching having quite a bit of force. Because of angled press and serrations underneath it looks to be a bottle capper.

The serrations were reeds that got stretched out of shape. I sent Mike Diamond a note on this one to see if he's seen it before?

Hi Richard.

As you say, the coin is damaged. Perhaps a hollow cylinder (Iike a pipe) was used. Folks are endlessly inventive when it comes to vandalizing coins.
