This is one of three ancient Roman coins I bought from Swamperbob--thanks for the great coins!
I'd like to do more research on Probus and this coin. Sofar I know it was minted in Alexandria 280/281 A.D.

The "LS" on the reverse is the date: Year 6 of the reign of Probus, which equates to 280/281 AD.

Are you sure it is an S for Year 6 and not an E for year 5. The reason I ask is that there appear to be two serifs at the end of the letter which could indicate that it is an E with a clogged centre bar rather than a S.
The following coin is my example with an E:-

And the following coin is my example with an S where you can clearly see the serif at the bottom tail of the S pointing left towards Nike :-

Welcome to the forum, Martin! Glad to have you aboard.

Deformed "E" or deformed "S", either way this letter is seriously twisted. I do agree that it most resembles a C-shaped E with the central stroke either missing or misplaced.

KurtS, looks like your coin is most likely 279/280 AD.
