I've been keeping track of these. I've found that 2009 cents are harder to find in boxes than wheat cents. However, they are not worth more than face value.

These cents are well known for doubled dies, there are many known on three of the four designs. Unfortunately, the one you have doesn't have many known DDOs or DDRs.

I really do not understand the relative uncommonness of 2009 cents that every speaks of. Here in Minnesota, at least where I am, I get absolutely tons of them, (I really don't bother to keep track.)

You can buy aftermarket displays of the series for really cheap - so many minted that they are everywhere. Now finding them graded at 66 or more is the way to collect them!

That's the Presidency one, right?

My uncle got one of those in change (somewhere in NY, probably) in November or early December 2009.
He then visited us in Moscow, and briefly gave his bag to us; I found the coin there, and asked to have it for my collection. He had no problem with that, though it was clear that he wasn't a collector.

I wonder if I was the first collector in Moscow to have a Presidency 2009 cent...

These are the modern key date for the Lincoln cents. So few were minted are they are dang near impossible to find in circulation.

They are readily available for a reasonable price, but my experience is that they are pretty unusual to come across in change. I don't think I've ever received a LP4 / Presidency (which is what the coin posted is) and only a couple of LP3 / Illinois Statehouse. The Log Cabin and Formative Years seem to be a little more common around here but I bet I come across as many wheat pennies as I do 2009 Lincoln's around here.

These are likened to the Bicentennial Quarters and 2005 Bison Nickels. Everyone pulled them and put them away. You don't see them all that often because people saved them.
They made plenty of those and these 2009 cents.

Actually there were tons of these minted . The only reason some find them hard to come by is because of all the hoarding of these Lincoln's . I myself am a culprit .

Low Mintage Cents

In the Fall of 2009, the mint began offering Uncirculated Coin Sets which included all four Lincoln Cent designs from each of the two mints, Denver and Philadelphia. These cents differed from the regular business strikes because they were made of the original alloy used in Lincoln cents from 1909 to 1942, which was 95% copper alloy, 3% zinc and 2% tin. There were only 784,614 sets made which makes each of these cents the second lowest mintage of a non-proof, copper alloy coin in the series. The only lower mintage being for the 1909-S V.D.B. cent. Considering the low mintage of these coins, they could prove to be key dates in the Lincoln Cent series.

These are low mintage BUT, they are all in mint state condition and not being circulated like common business strike coins.
I don't see the value going up drastically in the near future.

LP1 was released on Lincoln's birthday, the OP coin was released much later in the year.
