i have been watching for one of these for a very long time. when I purchased this unit. I received a bonus camera. plus a inspection lens. the lower mount has a lighting system attached. I am building a high mag lens system. I am very close to putting this all together. the lens was assembled and completed today. the last pieces came in today from a foreign country. tried it by hand it looks promising. there is myself and well there was only 2 other people. until this week our group has grown to 6 now . some of these guys are pushing this unit over top. as this progresses I will show the members here how this works. what we want to accomplish. we are hoping we can cut focus stacking in half with these units.

Hi, Rocky. What is the lens and what is the camera? Why you called them Sony A7R Mark II High Mag? Looks like very expensive and heavy industrial unit.

Hi rocky,
That is quite an impressive system. Looks like it has a camera/lens holder, and a specimen/lighting holder below. Will be interesting to see what you guys come up with using this equipment.
I'm curious about what you mean by "cut focus stacking in half". Do you mean do stacking twice as fast, or fewer images required or ?

hello justwalking and ray. yes but I want to do my work with the Sony A7R. so all I have to do is set the mode to APS-C or leave it full frame.Ray I can get a photo of a full penny. we are still working out some bugs. this thing is wow. Ray mag is 1X to 25X that is only the start. this unit is outstanding. Ray your mirror trick is most defiantly needed here. ray one member has attached the rodentstock 75mm 2X. its crazy how this thing is working. we are still having some issues with the depth of field. we are getting around that. I will keep posting as we get going farther.

ok here is the first image of a full coin. we are trying to get a full image of a quarter. here is the first image taken with the high mag. we would like to know your thoughts on this image. I am sorry but I did not want to remove the penny from its cellophane wrap.

here is the second image.if I am correct the mag is at about 8X or 9X. the young engineer our little group. he will know for sure. see the math that has been done. it shows that I should be able to push this lens to 20X. I am still have some vibration problems. but we are ironing out the bugs. here is the image same coin with high mag.

rocky...images are looking good. The first one looks like you're using nearly axial lighting, but if it's in cellophane I am not sure why there is no general glare. The 2nd image appears lit from the side, so different from the first. What are you doing for lighting? Depth of field is fairly shallow on 2nd one so you're going to need to stack for sure at that magnification.

yes ray you are right. I had to move the lights around. we are going to add some negative glass. plus some of the others are going to see. about how to mount a aperture. they say we can have cross hairs. I said no thank you. I do not know ray one can not defy physics. but its fun trying. ray I am going to set my circuit board back up. I am going to mount a cobb angel eyes ring light. with a dimmer switch. have a great one

I do like the 40mm and 50mm angel eyes. Only issue is getting the right color temp with them. All mine are very blue, which is not so bad with copper but would be disastrous with silver. I still need to try getting some "warm" white ones.
