When coins are sent in for grading do they automatically screen for VAM attribution?

Just curious.
Thanks.

No, none of the grading service do that. You have to pay extra for variety confirmation and even more for attribution in addition to the grading fee. For instance, ANACS charges $12 per coin(Economy service is 5 coin minimum max value $500) for grading and then $5 for variety verification(they confirm what you attribute) or $10 for variety attribution(they research the variety)

ICG will also confirm the VAM on slab for $5 additional. They currently have a $12 / 2 day special on US Dollars. If you have a VAM listed, it added about an extra 5 days to my last group of submissions. You might check their website. Their "Club membership" is very reasonable since if you use it, your $15 joining fee is credited to your first order, so it was free.

There are some relatively unknown specials also they send "club members". I received a reuseable coupon for free grading of certain keys ( such as 1909-SVDB, 1914-D cent, 3-leg buffalo, 1916D dime,1932D,S quarters,etc)12 keys. on a 1:1 basis, submit one regular coin service for each key to be graded. Wish I had a lot of them to send in

Jim
