I don't know how I missed this , but here are nice die clashes by the chin and lip on what I thought was a VAM1D3 Morgan

Now, I'm not sure - could this be a VAM 1 D 4?- (new)

Help on this one especially from the VAM Experts please.

That is a nice die clash. Does it have the clashed S like the 1D3? If so I would still think it's the right variety. If it is clashed in one area, the possibilities of it being clashed in others are higher. This would probably just be a later die state. Can you post pics of the items listed under the VAM 1D3 variety?

Mr Lee from VamWorld stated that unless it has "NEW" LETTERS, its still the same VAM 1DC.- die clashes do not change anything.

*Unless it sticks out like a sore thumb, example- E under the Eagles Feathers Rev)* I can never locate these clashed letters even the one's that are posted on VamWorld- its like "WHAT ARE THEY SEEING THAT I'm NOT?"

Here are some pics I had posted initially on this coin that match the VAM1D3 especially the date doubling, the line in B of Liberty and the small line near the "M" initial -all match. I took a pic of the area for the letter S but like I said- I can never find these things ,especially the IN God We Trust and "M" letters.

amac44:

I'm not sure of your question, but maybe this will help.

The S & O are Mint Marks- Not VAM'S

Four Mints for the 1882 Morgan silver dollar
CC- Carson City
*Philadelphia ( no mint mark on the Reverse)*
O- for New Orleans
S- for San Francisco

Numerous VAM'S for Each MINT.

Google VAM World- go to their site and it will list every Morgan silver dollar for each year made and by what US Mint.

Whatever year you choose, it will open up with a list of VAM'S attributed for that year and mintmark.

Then, have "FUN" trying to figure out what looks like a match to your Morgan dollar.

*THANKS AGAIN NGILES FOR GETTING ME INTO THIS VAM MESS* (LOL)! :)
