I just joined CCF, after a few weeks of reading the site... have been collecting seriously for about two years; but I did some more low-key collecting when I was in high school (went to a couple shows, etc.). So What do you think of this recent acquisition? Not shown in the photos is a little bit of residual luster in the Legend and between the rim and leaves.

From the amount of wear in the Queen's hair, I would say VF-30, maybe EF-40. Also looks like it may have been cleaned.

VF 30 A little too much wear for EF by Canadian standards, though it may make EF in a PCGS slab.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

Great, thanks for your assessments. I agree, it has been lightly cleaned on the obv..
I bought it for $120 as a VF, but I thought it was under graded.
Do you think it's worth sending it to be slabbed?

I wouldn't send it in as it should be marked as cleaned.

From PCGS, I think you would get EF details (cleaning).

High VF, possibly cleaned.

Update: I just received a batch back from ICCS, and here's what they thought: There was a decent amount of luster in the protected fields that might have pushed it over into EF, but that didn't show well in the photos.

It doesn't look cleaned to me. Not sure why some of you think it looks cleaned? I was going to guess EF40 before I seen the last post so I guess I was right lol There's a first for everything.

Old school conservative graders like me will call it VF-30, the new crop of graders will call it EF-40 without hesitation.
If we're being honest, most coins have had some degree of cleaning at some point, so it's not really necessary to note it unless it's blatant.

Not necessarily the case here but thousands of Canadian coins in ICCS holders would never get a numerical grade from PCGS/NGC based on various problems. Especially in AU+ grades.

But........... Not necessarily the case here but thousands of Canadian coins in PCGS holders graded AU would never get the same numerical grade from ICCS based on overgrading. ICCS would grade them VF or EF.

doubleeagle59...I admire your valiant efforts to defend ICCS... But... There is no consistency with that theory...And certainly not since Brian stopped grading....Although many coins in mid grades do grade higher, VF to AU as rule is a gross exaggeration. The biggest discrepancy (with some consistency) is generally between EF and AU. ICCS EF = PCGS/NGC AU. Many VF coins cross at par and MS coins often see higher grades from ICCS. I've crossed enough coins and have posted results on this very board numerous times. Added edit: Frankly I feel that ICCS has some secret net-grading formula for certain coins (especially problem coins) that no one yet understands.
