I have a couple of silver 'French jetons' myself. They were picked out of a dealer's junk box. They were cheap, because neither the dealer nor myself know much about them.
I believe that there are some specialist books on the subject of jetons, but I have never seen them. That implies that some research on the subject of jetons must have been done.
When I am motivated, I will get onto Google Images, looking for likely near matching examples to mine, and visit a few websites linked to those images that may be helpful in finding more about them, and with a bit of luck, perhaps identify the items that I own.
For me at least, good information on jetons is difficult to access, and I personally don't know of anybody who seriously studies and collects them.
Nuremberg rechepfennig of Louis XIV from the atelier of Wolf (III) Lauffer. I'm used to seeing this in brass, yours looks silver or billon. Brass version in the same condition maybe $20.00
It's just bad lighting ... in hand it's a bronze colour (could be a dark brass, I suppose). Thanks, this helps. I would be curious as to a good reference book for them.
All the comprehensive reference books seem to be in French, most notable of which is Feuardent. Now out of copyright (published 1915) it can be found as a PDF.
