Hello,
Im new to this coin forum. I have a old coin collection and stumbled across a circulated 1967 "coin alignment" silver dollar. The queens head is upside down in contrast to the goose on the otherside. I know it is rare but wondering what it could be worth etc? Any info would help,
thanks

I found this related conversation on the coinsandcanada.com discussion board (you may have to register) Googled 1967 dollar coin coin axis

1- A diving Goose, a slight declining Goose, hard to see; look at them strait on they decline to the left.
2-A Die axes, meaning they are apposite when rotated (one up one down, Queen and Goose) Like to know if you have one of them. Send me a PM and maybe help you further.

The suggestion was to submit these to either ICCS or CCCS (these are canadian 3rd party coin grading sites.)

So at least some others exist.

My 2013 Charlton (blue) coin guide which my local coin store tells me is the wholesale/dealer price, lists the coin at $1,000.00 (sorry likely Cdn not US $)

So .....its likely worth getting slabbed, probably worth investing the current Charlton Coin Guide, ndn proceed slowly and carefully.

Best of luck

Just had another thought. Went to this page on coinsandcanada.com
http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins...ar-1965-1989

Variety AG-3 G-4 VG-8 F-12 VF-20 EF-40 AU-50
1967 - $12.70 $12.70 $12.70 $12.70 $15.00 $17.60
1967 - #8593;#8595; - - - - - $1,050 $1,670
perhaps this a help.

Are you saying that, if you hold the coin in front of you at the top and bottom, and then turn the coin east to west, that the opposite side is upside down?

I know what coinage and medal are ... I was wondering if what he was looking at was medal or coinage.

Hello okiecoiner

My message was not an answer to your message.

I know your experience in numismatics and I know that this editing did not teach you anything.

I only wanted to help Bullzeye by this editing.

I apologize for not writing the pseudonym "Bullzeye" after the word hello in my message, what caused confusion.

Bullzeye, you should post some pictures of this coin. if you have not read any of the talk on this forum about this error coin here is the short version. Most people agree that these were not meant for circulation, these were made by employees of the mint and smuggled out the back door.

Nobody has ever seen one of these just floating around, most if not all of these were in the hands of a few coin retailers, and most have been graded professionally.

I think the members here might be interested in the story of how you got this coin, maybe from a relative years ago perhaps?

cheers

I will disagree with the idea the coin alignment version of the 67 dollar was custom made like the double struck flip over version due to the sheer numbers of these examples, if the upset dies coins were part of the RCM's workers fantasy there would be just as many of these types out there. The 180 degree rotation could be just a loose set screw allowing the die to rotate, there are examples of a constitution dollar in a 180 or upset die orientation and similar other denominations but anything in 180 rotations are rare, especially dollars, look up TCNC Winnipeg RCNA sale and the Legacy sale you will find a good idea of this coins value, good luck and welcome to this forum

The coin in the error section was only just originally recently ICCS graded, like 6 months ago, but I thought this coin would look nicer in a PCGS holder, if you expect to get max value for a coin like this it just has to be graded

Hello again,
My apologies on the late response to my answered question. l unfortunately do not have a 1967 "coin alignment" coin. It turned out to be a regular 1967 dollar.I learned to research my coins before posting a question. I suppose this is what the forum is for.. Thanks to all for answering my question non the less!
Cheers
