I know it is a bit of a long shot but thought that this coin had some proof like qualities. Sharp strike, possible polished edge, and maybe a mirror like finish. Of course there wasnt anything on record that I found for the year in a proof. Stranger Things have happened though.

Last pic of obverse wasn't the best. This one was a little better I thought.

I can't really say if PL or not, I think SPP-ottawa would probably know, although I will say this, of all the 1943 Canada cents I have seen this one appears to be the most sharply struck I have seen.

No where close to being a specimen strike... once you hold a George VI specimen strike in hand, there is no confusion between business strikes and specimen strikes.

That one was probably struck with newer dies... and 1943 was not plagued with the weaker strikes as much as the 1940 and 1941 cents were...

Proof coins during this time period are, in my opinion, slightly different in appearance to that of the more modern proof coins. I typically try to compare a proof coin to another of the same year. Or if a proof in question doesn't have another coin to compare characteristics with, I try to find a proof coin a year or two within the the coin in question. In this case I didn't have much to compare. I looked at some Australian and British proofs but that was mostly just curiosity than research. It did seem like a well struck coin and did have some interesting aspects. I don't know enough to say one way or another. Thanks for the feedback!
