I'm trying to figure out what I have here on this 1946 Wheat. The rim looks perfect and the back is nice. Thanks for any opinions in adavance.

Fuzzy317 is correct. It's a Lamination error and it's a good one. Very nice find!

Called a pealed and retained lamination, a planchet flaw that once stamped separates like that, poor alloy mix or annealing is the cause.
