I have recently gotten a Chihuahua Mexico 10 peso note (1915) and a 5 centavo coin (1914) that both seem in exceptional condition considering theeir age. A lttle research as shown that neither is too valuable but I was wondering if there is a known history of reproductions of this era coins and bills (Pancho Villa commissioned).

Moved to world note forum.

Back when I was more inclined to purchase notes, I bought a set of Chihuahua notes, 1 peso to 50 pesos, uncirculated, fairly cheap, from a dealer who specialised in Spanish-American coins and notes. I think the originals are still cheap and available enough to make reproductions somewhat redundant.

It just baffles me that they survived in such good condition. Maybe they were circulated very little (obviously)and not generally accepted. It is interesting that so many survived in such good condition. I have noticed that they are generally cheap negating a reason for reproductions. They are neat historically.

I seem to remember movies using copies of Mexican currency in "money" scenes. I want to say this happened in The Treasure of the Sierra Madre or one something like that from the 30s or 40s. Perhaps that explains it.
