Several weeks ago someone sold the shop a few proof sets from 54-64 in Capital plastic holders. The 1955 set was pretty nice, a little toning on some , and a couple I think might go Cameo. This Franklin has a stronger cameo on the obverse (still a bit weak though ), and some toning on the obverse and reverse. Does the spotting on the reverse affect your grade opinion ? The cameo is a little weak, do you think it might get a cameo designation in a TPG holder? All opinions appreciated !

Well, The spotting was not something I was willing to accept on this coin...so I had to do something about it. I was afraid it might get worse over time , so I gave it a 5 second dip. It is now a cleaned coin. If I had not told you...could you tell ? I am pretty sure I could get a grade from any TPG on this coin..Am I wrong ?

I like toning on a coin, but that toning was not real attractive, and I think it looks 100% better now... Any opinions ? Thanks for looking... again !

Hmmm, not sure about the spotting to be honest. I have no experiencxe with submitting anything with spots per say. I guess if they don't consider it environmental damage, they would/should ignore it...

As for the cameo designation, my guess is it should get it. Most of the time cameo coins are hard to see with a photograph, but easier in hand. Unless you have cameo photography down pat, I would say this would look even deeper in hand and should easily make it. Of course, all my opinion at best.

Thanks for looking Tights24, I am going to post a couple more pics of this coin later this week if I get some time. I do like toning on coins, look at some of my posts and it is plain to see, but I also like a nice blast white coin too. This one is very nice ...but I am having a hard time with those reverse spots, and that spot behind and below the ear in the hair is a bit distracting too. Although the spotting may not detract from the grade , it does detract from the eye appeal IMO...What to do...what to do...Stay tuned.

It looks good and I agree that the spots were distracting. I suspect you could get it in a slab, even from NGC or PCGS. ANACS would of course be safest, since they'll slab it either way. I think it's a PF66 CAM FBL. Nice coin.

I have a few Franklins, and at times I think about going after a full collection. Would certainly be cheaper than trying to finish out my Walkers.
