tropicalbats Pillar of the Community United States 6196 Posts	Posted 03/13/2018 1:54 pm Just putting some error coins in slips and realized I wasn't exactly sure of the label on this and could use some verification from the error folks. Is this an indent w/ partial collar or an indent w/ partial tilted collar? The mushroom effect on the edge is the same all around showing no tilting, but when I look at the coin from above and at the "tilted" effect on the indent at the rim I just don't know. Trying to label correctly so would appreciate some help on this one. Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff

The curvature of the indent appears to be too small to have been a cent planchet, possibly a dime planchet? A foreign planchet? Report this Post to the Staff

So while it would still be my assumption that it was a cent planchet just tilted to make the curve look wrong, it is a rather tight curve. Here is a cent and dime overlay for what it's worth (11 cents, I know). Report this Post to the Staff
Crazyb0 Rest in Peace 10197 Posts	Posted 03/14/2018 8:41 pm TB, the pressure of the stamp without the restraint of a collar, would elongate the blank planchet/coin that was on top. Note the bottom how it egg shapes. Also note the slicing of downward motion, this goes hand in hand with a stretching. I'm guessing it was a planchet, no image transfer, rim intact.
