I ran across this when browsing completed auctions. This one was erroneously listed as a "1806 George III Halfpenny", and I think somebody got a deal for $87.40.
If I'm reading the coin correctly, I see Pope Alexander V, who is considered an "antipope" during the Western Schism. If that's the case, somebody got a very interesting coin!
I believe it says "VI", not "V", making it a coin of the "secular pope" Alexander VI. Still a bargain, I think; this similar one on CoinArchives sold at auction for 370 euros.
From the circular patch of untarnished metal, it looks like it's had some kind of mount glued or soldered on, then carefully removed. If the coin itself hasn't been damaged or tooled, it probably won't affect the value that much.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis
