Bought a bag of about 100 of these the other day. Was going through them and noticed the "4" on this one was rubbed down quite a bit. What I found interesting is the rest of the date is no where near as rubbed, or any of the other parts of the coin for that matter. Curious if this is possibly a mint error or just...nothing (for lack of a better word)

What do yall think?

Perhaps a buzzkill @SwwPlayboy86, but I would argue that this is the better of the two possible outcomes ( PMD vs. a grease-filled die). With PMD, much of the numismatic value would be lost, but is retained in your coin. Not huge bucks in either case, but still a solid example of a '43--at least from the part of the coin that you have shared so far.

Some coins just seem to have a common location for Grease Filled Dies. The Delaware State Quarter tend to lose the last E in state, the Connecticut quarter tended to lose some of the letters in Charter Oak, the New Hampshire quarter tended to lose the mintmark. For the 1943 steel sent the 4 seem to be a very common place for grease to gather.
