maybe "Bidder4" was a shill: if not, he was lucky he didn't win this one.
Have a look at the bidding history: seems like auction-fever to me. If Bidder4 was a shill, then he knows how to play brinkmanship.

Or maybe the newbie is the shill bidder and went too far on his bid. Notice that gen1e1976 didnt bid on any other auctions by any other sellers.

Either way, it went way over what it should have.

G'day,
good point CoinHunter - if you're right, then the shill will be kicking himself - missing out on an $80 bid on a coin that is readily available for $10 or less. Not such a clever example of brinksmanship, in that case.

That said, it is a very nice example of Australia's ugliest coin.

It will be interesting to see if the seller relists this one anytime soon ...

I picked up an UNC 1954 for $4.30. They often sell for way below book value.
