I need an 1859 Indian cent still, on a budget. Thoughts on this one. How much does the fact it looks like the indian has been eating .... affect the value?

Larger pics would really help. At least VF-30, maybe higher, hard to confirm here.

looks about vf30. not really concerned that liberty looks like she was eating a hershey bar, but the weakly struck reverse does far more for me to lower the eye appeal. I would be patient and look for a coin with better eye appeal.
Rest in Peace

Are you looking for a slabbed coin? Or will a lower grade raw do for "on a budget". I wouldn't call a VF30 slabbed at $35-50 a budget bargain! At least not according to my limited monthly funds!

Full bold LIBERTY, ribbon separated from curl this coin should make XF. Would like to see more feather detail though. As for the chocolate around Liberty's mouth, it's a distraction but not a deal breaker. It may or may not come off. Original coin for sure IMO.

Well it's in an XF40 holder, but I can't afford an XF price. If I can get if for low VF $ I may try. If not I'll just let it go.

Thanks for the opinions.
Rest in Peace

If it's just dirt and crud around mouth and all letters ( ( both sides ),then go ahead and buy or bid on it if the price is right . Acetone and Verdi-care will be beneficial as long as it's not carbon spots which I'm sure it is NOT !
