IF I were in the market for a 1913-D Barber Half, I would pay the XF45 price for this gorgeous lady. This beauty is just loaded with character! LOVE IT.

Thanks for the guesses and comments. I wish I had the whole set like this, no matter the grade. The obverse looks VF30-35 and the reverse is a solid XF40, but this was a period when PCGS was moving away from strict technical grading to more market grading. I would guess less than a handful of 13D's wound up looking like this one. Wish it only cost XF45 money 12 years ago!

I held a handful of my Morgan halves, comparing them to yours, and your toning is just exactly the level I adore --- except the legend "STATES" is overly toned. So, in my opinion, yours grade is fair. But it is hard to quantify its outstanding character.

Barber hated Morgan. He would roll over in his grave if he saw his work attributed to his rival.
