seattleMD, can you post another photo, but with a "straight-on view, of the date, and MM? It is distorted ,and it makles it very difficult to see if the serif(s)is/are split. I will say that it is, based on the shape of the MM,(in this photo).

The hair across the mint mark doesn't help much either... LOL

I just spotted something you might be looking at. On the West side of the mint mark looks like a West. I say looks like as if you follow the vertical die scratches, it is part of one of the die scratches. Die scratches fade in time after striking more and more coins. These disappear in the fields, but around the devices they tend to remain longer. I've found some that looked like a RPM in the center of the mint mark. But checking again it was just a die scratch posing as a RPM.
