Second, while I don't see any doubling of the inscriptions or design elements on this quarter, I do see a darker area roughly in the middle of the coin. This has nothing to do with the minting process and is most likely the result of some object (like a nickel) being placed on this coin while both were exposed to the elements. Alternatively, a small puddle of a mildly corrosive liquid may have been placed on this quarter. In any case, unless I'm missing something, this coin is safe to spend.
