I picked this one up at the ANA in Irving a couple weeks ago and wanted to see what the CCF Members had to say about her.

Thank you for your interest and comments!

Exceptional center strike both obverse and reverse from a newer die pair. Slightest golden peripheral tone acts as a frame for the bright luster middle design elements. Unquestionably mint state. Two small ticks on lower cheek on obverse is the only possible minor distraction worth mentioning.

Technical grade = 65. Eye appeal = 9/10. I would not be surprised with a CAC at 65.

AU-55 or -58
Those light scratches from the jaw down into the neck appear to me to be handling marks, not bag marks.

Eye candy, but you should expect a comment something like that.

No wear, nice toning, and a sharp strike.
Obv.:A few light scuffs on the jaw and even fewer in the field.
Rev. Even better, hard to find even a tiny flaw, but the biggest mark is between the F and the D.

I have seen on other threads where on screen grading above MS64 can be greatly influenced by different lighting angles.

From what I see here, split grades Obv. 64, Rev. 65.

Most of us are never fortunate enough to have a Barber in this condition. That includes me.

I'm personally confused by this one. It looks like it has the luster of a 65, but looks as though it has wear around the hair and face. I'm gonna guess at MS63 just to kind of tread the middle between my two guesses

I'll say the cheek holds this to 64.

At first glance ... it looks MS-64. However, I think kanga has a point about the scratches on the face. You can imagine a coin that was lightly circulated having those scratches ... while still have the luster of an UNC.

I'll still go with MS-64. I don't think PCGS/NGC/ANACS will grade this coin as AU.

Also... it's a beautiful Barber Half!
