I have had this Nickle for a few years. The texture seemed to be wrong on one side. Have done a lot of research finding it could be of a matt finish. The mint has done trial test on different types of dyes. Also considered one sided matt finish.

to CCF. Looks like a regular business strike with circulation toning.

Thanks, It's a good conversation piece. It is hard to compare pics not knowing what to look for.

Satin Finish coins were made in US mint sets from 2005 to and including 2010.
There are other matte finish coins but not for this one. Just some environmental issue.
The 1994 and 1997 Jefferson's in the Commemorative Botanical and Jefferson sets.
There's also the 2017 S enhanced finish. That's all I ever heard of.

The mint has done trial test in late 2013 and early 2014

Please point out some info on trial issues you know of.
I would be interested as I try to get one of every Jefferson nickel they made. Proof matte satin and uncirculated.

The dies are treated with sandblasting or other methods I suppose to produce such coin finishes.
To find one struck with a special test die just doesn't add up. To get a specimen of a trial coin is also highly unlikely, but this is news to me. Stranger things have happened so I never say never anymore but I think your nickel sat in some place for a long time with one side either up or down.
Maybe a desk drawer or under the refrigerator, ( who knows ) but in that environment it was in affected on the one surface to where it is actually either an unattractive toning or possibly environmental damage.
