Are the unreleased P & D Presidential dollars finally being put into circulation? Went to the big city today and picked up a few rolls of small dollars and I am starting to find coins not issued into circulation. I got a Nixon, a Teddy Roosevelt, a Coolidge, a couple of Hardings, and 5 Arthurs. If so, I better steal some money from my savings and go buy more.

They're sitting in vaults and are available for release. As people lose them, destroy them and otherwise remove them from circulation, some of the backlog will be issued. Maybe. Those are typically in bags.

Mint rolls are more likely somebody dumping their "collection". My dad has them and someday they'll find their way to a bank.

It was big news in 2011... https://www.npr.org/2011/06/28/1373...nobody-wants

Thanks for that read. Back in 96 or 97 I put my hobby on the backburner for a couple of years, little did I know it would be almost 20 years before I got back into it, now I am playing catch up. Over the last 20 years, I still threw all my change into a 5 gal jug, but never paid attention to the small dollars, last week I picked up my first few rolls and a new Red Book. The Red Book shows that from 2012 on the P & D coins were minted but never issued into circulation, so imagine my surprise when I found a few of those unissued coins last night.

Sagegirl!

I picked up a $25 roll of Reagan $'s at my local
credit union a while back. Someone cashed in
several rolls of them for face value.

Yeah, NIFC... Not **INTENDED** For Circulation.

But the I has a habit of being less honored in the breach than the observance, once the heirs figure out they're just worth face.
