A family friend had four of these coins (all characters on both sides of the coin were the same). I know nothing about these but believe they're old Chinese cash coins?

Any information about their value or details about the coins would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Those are Qianlong Boo-chiowan pieces, which were made from 1736 to 1795 (link!). These are the most common Chinese cash coins out there, so they are not worth much.

The number of these extant after more than 2+ centuries really is remarkable.
