I picked up five State Quarter collectors set yesterday. Four are 1999 states Georgia, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. One 2000 Massachusetts, all are from Philadelphia mint. They look to me to be a golden or brass toned. I'm new to this hobby and would like someone to look and advise please.
Now if I can figure out how to post pictures
Thanks JD

They may be 24k gold plated coins. The US mint did issue P & D four coin sets, with a P&D Mint clad CuNi, a gold plated and a Platinum plated in the State Quarter series. Also, there were private mints that plated both the P & D mints with 22/24k gold coins. I have a partial set(missing three years) that from my understanding sells for over $200 complete. Just hard to do now this many years later!

BTW, to the funny farm!

The coins are inside the packs - color looks like the one dollar coin
Would they be shiny if gold plated ? These have a matte like finish
I live near Orlando Fla - where would I bring these to get looked at ?
Rest in Peace

It's simply toning. Coins of all materials will change color depending on the environment they are in. Although gold doesn't usually change much.

Yours are simply toned. Nothing weird. We have folks report these "colored" coins almost daily and they are the same each time.

But it does show that you have your eyes open and post great pictures and ask great questions, and

Thank you for the information. I'm enjoying the new hobby and the hunt will continue. Must be the thrill of the hunt - I'm not really sure what I'm hunting for #128526;
