Here I am at 4000 posts, so I thought I'd give a bit back to the community. This will take the form of an identify-to-win contest, but since the coin shouldn't be too hard to recognize for a lot of you, I've added a twist: one side has been divided into six parts of roughly equal size. I will post one of these images on the first day, and if the coin remains unidentified, I will post another on the second, and so on. I intend to start with the hardest images, so they will not necessarily appear in the correct order.
The rules: To win, you must clearly identify the coin: issuing authority, ruler/head of state, date (or narrowest possible date range), and denomination. The first image will be posted at or around midnight (forum time) on Friday, March 30th. Guessing opens then. Subsequent updates will be posted daily around midnight forum time, unless I state otherwise ahead of time. One guess per member per day. No "foot in the door" posts- edited posts are not allowed. Should I get through all six parts before the coin is identified, I will leave it open for one day before beginning on the other side on April 6th. I don't see that happening, though.
Good luck! Remember that the contest starts in just over a day.

I get the feeling that the coin in question is not in my area of knowledge. Even so, thanks for the contest! I will do my best.

Just one more rule before we begin- participation is limited to members with at least 50 posts. Thanks.

Part one. The contest is now open. This is my first time trying to post a picture from my phone, so hopefully it works.

@numisma, this post isn't my guess for the day, but rather a request for clarification. In today's image we can see part of the edge of the coin. Are you posting these pics true to their location on the coin? In other words, is today's pic actually the lower right-hand part of the coin and yesterday's pic was the mid-right hand side of the coin? Or is that not necessarily true? Thx!

@Spence- Yes, I haven't rotated any of the pictures, so they do go where they appear to.

Ok well, I think that I can get us at least close, so if I'm not exactly right with my guess, then others should look around the same general timeframe for their guesses.
That looks like a Follis from the Byzantine Empire issued under the authority of Romanus III (1028-1034 AD). If I am correct, then it should be attributed as Sear 1823. What gives it away for me is the series of steps at the bottom (that hold a cross) and the bASIL in the inscription.
