Want to get an opinion on a 1915 Barber Half. It looks iffy in had as there is a slightly darker spot where the mint mark would be. Below is a close up of the area.

I can't give you a definite answer, but I'm certainly suspicious. If it was removed, the perpetrator did an excellent job, but then of course they had a lot to gain.
Rest in Peace

Suspicious yes, but I do see one indication it may not have been. Metal surfaces can be like a graining in wood, a similar affect, note at 12 o'clock a line running south/south west from the lighter portion through the darker. This is normal metal wear(at this mag). True, it may be circulation wear post mm removal, but I don't think so. My only "problem" that may indicate removal is the divot area at 5 o'clock. Circ hit?, honest wear and tear or intentional gouge? Would have to see under scope, in hand, different lighting and angles to be sure. This I would shrug on, don't know.?

It does look questionable.

I think it's questionable, but I can't prove it.

I can certainly see why you would ask, but I think this is one that needs an in-hand examination to see how the light reflects and if there is any assurance of removal, or not.

By the photos alone, as everyone else has said, I'd be suspicious, but that's no certainty.

It looks fishy to me, but I can't say for sure. Try looking at the mintmark positions on 1915-D and 1915-S halves. That might reveal something.

If unsure, you could always send it off. Depending on the grade, it might be in your best interest to get it graded anyway.

Not worth it depending on the grade. You can find a better one.

If it was removed MM, that is a mighty fine job as others have said.

The only way I would purchase that coin is it was graded by one of the respected services.
