Does anyone know any information about the $1 gold maple leaf in 1994. The coin had a mintage of 78860. For some reason I can't find one anywhere. It's actually pretty hard to find any $1 maples in the original package older than 2015. Just curious if anyone knows why these are hard to find or know of a place where they might have them.

Also interested to know the answer to this. My guess is that they are all in a private vault somewhere.

yeah its funny the 1994 $2 1/15 oz gold maple that has only a mintage of 3540 is easier to find than the 1994 that has a mintage 78860. Actually just was looking at PCGS population report for $1 maple leafs and the 1994 isn't even listed. At NGC the population is only 1.

They seem pretty hard to find. My guess (just a guess), is that they were largely purchased by one company or person, and they are hiding in a vault somewhere.

Glad you finally found one. Don't know why it was so hard to find. It certainly isn't one of the lower mintage years.

Quote: After months and months of calling every coin shop I know, I finally found one overseas in Denmark and got it graded. One of the most difficult gold coins I have ever hunted down for sure!! Congratulations!

Here is another one that I had to search the ends of the Earth for. This one has already been placed in a collection, but I must say, I never realized that the available population of these coins was so low! It makes me wonder if they are sitting in a bag in some bank vault somewhere, or with some treasury/central bank, or if they have already been melted into bars? Picture of another tough find incl.

Nice Does anyone know if there is a 1999-2000 $1 gold maple leaf? I've seen it with the silver maple and $50 gold maple but never seen it on a small denomination gold maple leaf?

According to Charlton, It was issued in all denominations of the God Bullion Maple Leaf series.

Aperwin, yes ... it exists as the "2000 fireworks" Coin. The 1999 coin is the "20 ans" version and is very hard to find. Perhaps not quite as difficult as the 1994 coin.
I do not believe there is a specific "1999-2000 fireworks" coin like the silver variety, at least I have never seen one.
You guys are making me want to collect the G$1 series!
