I bought this coin at auction in 1984, and at the time I thought the raised marks to the right of the face were die cracks. I just got this out again and it's now clear that they are clash marks. I've included an obverse/reverse overlay (although it's of a Barber half), and the marks seem to match pretty well. Has anyone seen this much prominent clashing on Barber quarters or halves? I would also appreciate your thoughts on grade.

That obverse clash is very prominent.

As you may know, this would not increase the value of this coin. There are far fewer collectors of classic errors than on modern issues. Plus there are some collectors that prefer some classic coins without clash marks or die cracks.

In any event, this is a lovely coin. I hope the luster is fully cartwheel in affect.

Thanks. I think the clashing is cool, but I realize it doesn't add much premium. If I were getting a single coin for a type set, I would probably get one without any distractions.

Not personally a fan of this, but it's quite unusual to be sure.
