I snagged this bronze a few weeks back on the general assumption that you never can have too many coins of Caligula around the house.
Well the price was right so why ask why ......

7.28 grams 28-9mm

Well after searching around for a bit I came up empty !

Must be Augustus then ...... no ?

I don't think it is

Now looking at the obverse I 'think' I am reading TPAIANO ?

help ............

My first impression was also Caligula, never saw a Trajan with that bust doesn't even look like him.

Perhaps an early issue
I have a Nerva that makes the supreme effort to make him look like a member of the family of Augustus.
But the legend here seems to read TPAIANO

The bust looks like Hadrian, whose name on the provincials is often a variation of TPAIANOC AΔPIANOC KAICAP. In this case, it seems to be [...] TRAIANO A-ΔP[...].

Not sure I would go so far as to say it looks like Hadrian !
But yes I think it is ..... Hadrian !
Funny how easy it is to look at something and not see the obvious
Hadrian using his "patronymic"

when I started out
I would have bet money on Caligula !
From Caligula to Augustus to Trajan and finally Hadrian
Its official ....... "old timers" is setting in

Many thanx Kushanshah
