That is what BStrauss3 means by flipping on the 9/3 axis -- the axis is the part that doesn't move, and which the rest of the coin rotates about. (Think of the earth's axis, which connects the north and south poles.)

We're all saying the same thing but getting hung up on the terminology.

Here is a good way to show mis-alignment:
1946-Dime-Backside-Upside-Down
Normal would show a U.S. coin obverse level and mirrored upside down. If it is not, then it is misaligned. 45 degree and higher is the better ones to keep.

That's how just about all US coins work; you can try it with others. What you have is a normal 1946 dime that's worth a little for the silver.
