I've had this Federal Reserve Bank roll of $25 of 1979 P SBA's forever. Each end shows a 1979 P. I'm not sure if they are near of far dates (thin or wide border) I tried to push away the roll to peak and take pics, but don't want to ruin the roll. Is it worth more as an intact roll or should I break it up to check? Also, does anyone know if the entire Federal Reserve roll would be the same (either all near or all far dates or a mix?) Thanks

Normal strike.
If he distance between the bottom of the 1 in date and the rim equal's the thickness of the digit, then it would be a near date!

In my estimation, the thickness of the 1 and the distance to the rim border is ABOUT the same, not sure if my last pic shows it for you. I don't have a regular far date to compare it to other than pics online.

Does anyone know how Federal Bank Rolls are rolled..IE are these ALL 1979 p's, and if so would near and far dates be mixed within each roll?

Quote: What do you mean by normal strike Not a wide Rim or a near date. For a more certain answer, please post an image from the whole coin.

From the pictures, those are far dates. The near dates, the 1 will almost be touching the outer rim.

Far date. Pop them open, there could be a wide rim in there. I found one in a $1,000 Loomis bank box. You can't miss it, the bottom rim is fat and close to the date.

So there is no added value to having the Fed roll intact and unopened? I don't want to be remorseful after crossing the point of no return and opening the roll.

I'd say not much if any over $25. There are Presidential dollar rolls selling for $30 but if you can find a wide rim, they are worth $7-8. Better return than trying to sell a roll for $30. IMO
