Another lot goodie from Leu Numismatik:
Mysia, Parion
AR Hemidrachm
C. 350-300 BC
Facing Gorgon, tongue protruding
Bull standing left, head turned right, ΠA / PI, Caduceus below
SNG Von Aulock 1321 (?)

This isn't my first coin of the type, but it's the first to scream "KEEP ME!" For whatever reason, despite all the raw artistic talent backing the Greek celatores, they seem to have struggled greatly with the Gorgons (of whom Medusa was one of three elders or leaders), failing to balance motifs of horror, hatred, and beauty. Most come across as grotesque monsters, average looking females, or just plain goofy looking. I like especially the facial expression captured here - confident, focused, almost hungry, even. Even better, the lock of hair on the upper left even had a flicking snake tongue!
Anyway, thanks for looking, and feel free to share any specimens you may have!
