Hi Guys- I just snagged a real nice Magnentius. Magnentius is not a hard emperor to obtain, but for some reason finding a nice coin is a bit hard. Nice obverse and ugly reverse, nice reverse and ugly obverse, legends off flan, nice coin but goofy portrait, etc. This one is not perfect but the portrait is excellent and it still has most of the original silvering that has a gray with a bit of green patina- much easier to see in hand than in the pics. Yes I know what the green is and no I will not be jacking with it. Legends are a bit off and some filled die problems. Overall I think it was a good snag. What do you think? OBVERSE: D N MAGNENTIVS P F AVG, bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust right, A behind bust. REVERSE: VICTORIAE D D N N AVG ET CAE, two Victories standing, facing each other, holding wreath inscribed VOT-V-MVLT-X. SP in lower center. Mintmark RPLG. RIC VIII Lyons 136; Sear 18820. 21x22 mm and 4.6 grams

That is a nice example, much nicer than the one I have. Congrats.

Nice grab. He is indeed tough to find in a respectable grade; ironically my two best coins of "his" are in fact ancient imitations, not official issues.

I really like the "big hair" and bugged-out eyes on your Magnentius. A very nice bust and coin.
Congratulations!

With the silvering nearly intact, that is just a tremendous find! A 99th percentile coin I'd think.

Looks to be in very close to 'as struck' condition. Excellent portrait. It may? have been attended to by a professional, to remove the worst of the green. Way beyond my resources and abilities, to do this sort of work. Cannot see evidence of verdigris pitting. Despite all of the negatives you have pointed out, still a very attractive coin.
