Imagine your favorite coin series. You go to a coin show and a reputable dealer has three coins in your favorite series that are all dated and mint marked the same. You need it, and are going to buy one. All three are priced the same and have identical "eye appeal" (to YOUR eye anyway). All three are PCGS holdered. The first coin is graded MS 65 with a gold CAC sticker. The second is graded MS 65+ with a green CAC sticker. The third is graded MS 66 without a CAC sticker.

MS65 gold bean if you extend the hypothetical to the exact same coin - how would you prefer it to be graded.

I'd buy the coin that looked better, not the holder or the CAC sticker.

Personally wouldn't buy either of the choices, not into having to have the high grades, they have no personality! Sometimes a nice XF SL $1 with nice circulation cameo and a jewelry ready hole in top is just the thing for my collections. They show to me that the coin had some meaning to LJ it.

Quote: All three are priced the same and have identical "eye appeal" Sorry, but no two coins are identical. However, I think that the coin with the gold CAC sticker got a sticker for a reason. I'd choose the MS-65 Gold CAC.

They are like three identical snowflakes.

That is the reason I adjusted your question to be the same coin - how would you prefer it to be graded.

Well if all three are identical I could take the 65 with the gold bean. That should equal a 66 with a green bean.

I would take the MS66. Nothing against CAC, but their opinion is not important to me. If all three coins are indeed the same to my eye, then I am going for the "cleaner" holder. Keep in mind that the only graded coins I have ever bought are Ikes. Not really a lot of CAC activity there.

65 gold without question. If it's priced the same as the other two it's underpriced.

All else being equal, ultimately I'd take the MS66. But part of me wants to take the MS65/CAC-Gold, resubmit it for the MS66 grade, then send it back to CAC for a green sticker.

I'm not into slabbed coins ,but I would take the one with the best eye appeal . I don't believe in identical triplets pertaining to coins .

I don't buy slabbed coins so I pass on all of them.

Good to know Conder101, but my original post stipulates, "You need it, and are going to buy one."
