A friend recently asked me to look at a group of coins and currency that her grandfather bought years ago.

As expected, a lot of the stuff is common stuff like base metal world coins, 30 pieces of world currency and other odds and ends.

The most valuable items monetarily are two 1963 Canadian mint sets and a 1965 United States SMS.

I've offered to buy the whole group. I need some assistance on what a fair price is for the Canadian mint sets.

Thanks.

1963 is still pretty common. 1962, the numbers are more scarce and the price goes up. I would consider the 63 still bullion value....Around 21+-...Dealers would pay 10 x face...If you want to be nice pay $25 but that would be tops...
Rest in Peace

Both the mint sets are common, I do see these at auctions quite often, SMS sets @$8-12, Canadian sets @$17-21. Now depending on world coins, I've bought pages for $3-8 of common coins, silver goes crazy!

I was thinking $23 each before you posted. I'll offer $25 each for easy math.

The world coins were all in Littleton Stamp envelopes with a "set code/number" such as Q-18 or Q-5. it told what the coin was, where it was from. Some had a price in the upper right corner 10 cents or 25 cents.
