While the devices look wider, I don't see any with a spread on them. Note that Variety Vista doesn't list any DDO on 1971-D

When looking at the link you can see how much spread was on other devices as well.


So with out a spread, it maybe an over all flattening during the 40+years out in circulation. (Part of the altering of the normal devices can also be coin wear. A factor to consider on circulated coins. So I feel your coin is not a doubled die. sorry
