It is not touching the 9. Having trouble seeing an RPM. MM's were hand punched on each working die until 1990,so they vary in location. John1

The last image shows it a lot better. Looks like a minor one. But I didn't see a match on Variety Vista. No matches on coppercoins (037 looked close) or Wexler's site.

I will try to get a better pic... I had just got my micro camera and am getting better with it and lighting.
Anyways, I think what I am looking at is best represented in the last upside down photo... The serifs on the D seem to have some possible rotated notching... I see it on the spine and the bottom the D mint.
Guess if anything it is not extreme...? I am learning that if you can't see it with a simple magnifier at best... probably not worth mentioning! LOL

A lot of my finds were from when I was using a straight up microscope... so I could really see maybe too much...to clearly. LOL
Plus photos never seem to do justice a lot of the time on some of the details, unless you get angles and lighting just right.

I save all RPMs. Put them into tube to keep track of them. You never know when one of the minor ones maybe listed someday.

I am not the expert here however from former general research on these types of errors - that is a keeper. http://numismaster.com/ta/numis/Art...icleId=14471The -D- mark is "way off center" and would be considered an error to what degree even if touching? The old saying is research If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, it may be a duck. Sorry I do not have any reference off hand. @coop: Awesome picture http://goccf.com/t/316057

I agree coop your images and description help a lot...
I have been trying to digest a lot of this over a short period of time ( 1 month now). And most of my searches pulled posts where coop had posted his images, I always found them informative. That is why I became a member to CCF.
Thanks for all your help coop!

Thanks guys. I was taught with yes and no answers. Takes a long time to learn that way. But when I started collecting images, adding information to them and using them at the right time, with the right patience, I feel like I'm making head way. I have a very active mind. When you figure out the coin making process, then you can see where something can and does go wrong. Each coin is a challenge, and it just takes a head full of how to, why, what ifs, and then sort through them to bring the correct answer to the fore. I'm still learning after all these years. New stuff keeps popping up all the time.

If the angle, serifs, location is not the same as the example your comparing with, then it is not from that die.

This is where it get harder for me to determine what is happening, on older circulated coins... Think I may be using that emoji quite regularly for sometime...
