Okee Doke, This is a spin off from topic Counterfeit Civil War Tokens Now on ebay

http://goccf.com/t/314219

I thought I should start a new topic to reach more people interested in what these look like.
I have 80 images uploaded. ( 40 FAKE Civil War Tokens ) from a seller in Hungary which I do not mention the name.

I will say that the seller did provide good images and I kept the titles very close to what the listings were titled. All of which I recorded.
The next day when these ended, some sold for over $100.00.
The purpose of this post is to educate Civil War Token collectors what these FAKES look like.
This took quite a bit of work so I sure hope it is allowed.
I only do this to help out the community and promote awareness.
I could have been fooled by quite a few of these myself. Others look like cheap camouflage.

To see the album where you can look at these individually is finished.
to see it click here. http://www.coincommunity.org/galler...p?album=1978

I made a collage of what I managed to work with.

It should be obvious, but note the two-tone coloring of the metal on most of these. These guys also put out a series of Indian Head cents a while ago with the same look. Unfortunately I did not capture them as masterfully as TNG.

WOW, TNG! What a fine job you did! I humbly applaud your efforts on this project!

I'm forwarding a link to this thread to other CWT guys. While many of these fakes are of relatively common CWT's, some are copies of rare varieties. Sadly, I can envision some of these fakes unwittingly passing through collector hands for years to come. Viewed as a lot like this, they're easier to comprehend as being fakes, what with the similar discoloration and generally crusty surfaces.

BTW, I thought the seller was in Czeckoslovakia, as opposed to Hungary? The original ebay listings, early 2017, were from Bulgaria.

Thanks for all the hard work to spread awareness.

What if counterfeiters put all that effort towards good?
I wish ebay did more to curb their actions.

I appreciate the "atta boys" on the project.

I have heard these fakes are coming from several countries and sellers.
The look of some of them like ExoGuy says is mushy and greasy.
The coloring of some reminds me of Belgium jigsaw camouflage.

@TNG.... "Awesome job" says one of my fellow CWTS members. He expects that the CWTS webmaster will post some of the pics on their site, too.

awwww shucks. Glad to help.
I am also going to add some Chinese US Fake coins to my album, they will follow the thumbnails of the CWT's as I have a batch of those here that I acquired specifically for that purpose.
