There are currently 5 major Silver UFO coins on ebay and all of them arent cheap! Most expensive is the Canada Falcon lake coin which is going for several hundred to 1000 dollars CAD$..next in Line is the Cameroon Roswell silver coin which is around 4-600.00..then the Burkina Faso Roswell commemorative for 5-700.00...next another Burkina Faso Battle of America for 2-300.00..and the Niue ufo coin which is in the 2-300.00 range..As well there are a few notable bullion coins modified by a private mint in Germany which are Canadian Maple leafs transformed into Ruthenium GITD coins and a USA Silver Eagle transformed into an alien head GITD coin..These are all fairly expensive coins and would appeal to the UFO enthusiast as well as coin collectors and dare I say..speculators? If you are an enthusiast of both UFOs and numismatics, you might appreciate doing a Google images search for UFO jeton. These are 17th century French tokens that depict what many claim to be UFOs, though this is controversial and some believe they are spinning tops instead.

Quote: These are the epitome of coins that should never be purchased. Its a hobby... let's not alienate collectors who choose to have fun in this gray area. Though its not my personal cup of sauce...er... tea, certain collectors' interests have been totally abducted by this area (51) of the hobby, and enjoy filling the holes in their (Whitman) blue books with these items.

ive looked for medieval jetons with ufo symbols on them on ebay recently after seeing those articles.....im sure they are extremely rare. As you may know Jetons are not currency..they are trade tokens and had many purposes similar to casino chips..There are a lot of very elegant designs on old jetons which cover many aspects of history, art and science etc. .from the 1300s to 1700s .it is an area I know very little about in coins. There are many depictions of UFO designs in paintings and architecture going back to prehistory. The 1947 Roswell USA incident is accepted as the beginning to the modern era in ufology which coincides with the testing and development of nuclear weaponry and technology. Most of the recent UFO numismatic offerings are connected with that event . The main problem I see in the designs is that they all all circular discs whereas in fact the craft that crashed at Roswell was not circular at all....it was a sophisticated wing like craft but I understand that the general public thinks of UFO as flying saucers...Anyways ive got two different ones coming in the mail right now so I'm looking fwd to seeing them soon.

Look up "Ancient Aliens debunked on youtube." The UFOs of ancient paintings are very thoroughly covered and shown to be religious symbols intended by the artist to have spiritual meanings. The information given is based upon verifiable data/science/history and covers a lot more than just the paintings. The entire series of films is very interesting to watch.

Im not going to debate whether aliens have been visiting this planet for thousands of years in spacecraft. I'm here to discuss coins based on that theme, their availability and popularity

I was not suggesting such a thing. I was just giving some information I stumbled onto concerning the subject - it was fascinating to watch and I was just sharing. No debate intended at all and I am sorry my wording somehow made it sound this way. I think the old coins you describe with the designs are cool and once spent quite some time online trying to dig into their history as well. I admit I don't remember a lot of it now though.

No worries..I just had to say it for the record!.......Im involved and authored 3 CCF topics on UFO coins right now and have been dealing with members of all persuasions on the topic. I dont own a single UFO coin as yet, in hand, and it wasnt until the recent release of the Canada Falcon Lake UFO coin that I was interested in UFO themed coins period.... so this is an entirely new area for me in numismatics. I'm not a fanatical Ufologist either!! I get pretty much all of my UFO knowledge from you Tube and books and video documentaries BUT I have been to Roswell last year. They have a great UFO museum. What interests me about the UFO coinage is how collectors and the general buying public are jumping on all these coins and paying huge prices for them...up to 1000.00 CAD$ for the falcon lake coin..I think it is a momentous occasion for ufology and the start of a new trend in that area.... I'm not interested in Science fiction coins with spaceships on them..or private souvenir type ufo coins etc......but when a GOVT produces a dated UFO themed coin..that gets my interest.

I doubt the popularity and price are all that closely related to the theme. We see the same thing with many of these modern NCLT coins which have unusual designs and a very low mintage of usually just a few hundred or few thousand pieces. Every year new ones of various themes come out, people go bonkers and drop big $ on them, and many of us that do not collect ultra-modern novelty pieces scratch our heads as to why.

Quote: BUT I have been to Roswell last year. While visiting the RR ghost town of Thurmond, WV, I found a relic I had to bring home... an old-fashioned style Coke Bottle with "Roswell, NM" embossed on the bottom. I thought finding any other Coke bottle in a ghost town would not have been as interesting! Although later I found this bottle to be a remake, but its still fun and sits on my insulator display case.

Roswell museum is quite amazing ..they have a full scale model of the craft with a few aliens standing around and lots of documentation of the crash events with sworn affadavits from the witnesses etc....I didnt get a chance to explore the town but the UFO stores everywhere were proof of a tourist trap in full swing..I would like to go back and stay overnite sometime..the desert is amazing but I didnt visit the crash site....
