Is this an error coin or is it just an old and dirty coin?

Strange, looks like just the way grime has built up around the devices. Try a good soak in 100% Acetone, should clean that up!

It's a bit dirty, but it is a 40% silver coin

Guessing just some coincidental dirt accumulation.

To CCF! That's not an error, but just a little bit of accumulated dirt. An Acetone soak will get rid of that easily. Still a nice 40 percent Silver Kennedy half still.

Soak it in acetone, which will help in removal of the dirt around the devices.
